Ecoestresse para todos os infartados?

WHAT IS KNOWN

  • Multivessel disease is frequently observed in patients with acute myocardial infarction.
  • Complete revascularization in patients with acute ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction and multivessel disease is associated with better clinical outcomes than infarct-related artery–only revascularization.

WHAT THE STUDY ADDS

  • A selective stress echocardiography–guided revascularization strategy was safe and may not be significantly different to complete angiographically guided revascularization.
  • Moreover, stress echocardiography–guided revascularization strategy significantly reduced the need for predischarge elective revascularization procedures.

We wish to confirm and reiterate to managers, commissioners, healthcare professionals and patients that, at
present, none of the novel oral anticoagulant drugs (dabigatran, edoxaban, apixaban & rivaroxaban) are
licensed for use in patients with mechanical heart valves and, in fact, they are contraindicated in patients
with mechanical valves as per both European[3] and North American[4] clinical practice guidelines because of
a higher incidence of thromboembolic complications when compared to warfarin.
