Reduced Sympathetic Stimulus and Angiotensin 1–7 Are Related to Diastolic Dysfunction in Spinal Cord–Injured Subjects

.

In conclusion, the present study showed that SCI subjects with likely impairment of sympathetic outflow had higher ANG1–7 levels, but similar renin activity, ANGI, and ANGII levels, when compared to able-bodied subjects. In addition, better LV diastolic performance was related to higher ANG1–7, ANG1–7/ANGII ratio, and noradrenaline levels among SCI subjects. These results suggest that impaired sympathetic activity and reduced expression of ANG1–7 may be involved in SCI-related LVDD.
